Help:Editing a Page

This page explains how to edit existing pages on the wiki. We highly suggest you read Help:Formatting after this.

Editing modes

There are two ways to edit a page:

  • Edit - Opens the visual editor.
  • Edit source - Opens the wikitext editor.

While both work, I strongly recommend Edit source once you're comfortable. It's faster, more precise, and avoids formatting issues.

Making edits

To edit a page:

  1. Open the page you want to edit.
  2. Click "Edit source".
  3. Make your changes.
  4. Use "Show Preview" before saving.

Avoid removing content unless:

  • It is incorrect.
  • It is outdated.
  • You are replacing it with better information.

If you're unsure, improve rather than delete.

Editing tips

  • Mention a user with: {{user|RPiCPU}} = RPiCPU
  • Mark unfinished pages with {{Stub}} at the top
  • Add images by uploading them here, then using: [[Image:Example.png]]

Previewing your changes

Always use Show Preview before saving. This helps catch if the page has broken sections or typos, which are often hard to spot in the editor. Preview as many times as needed.

Saving changes

When saving, write a short, clear summary of what you changed below "summary".
