Help:Getting Started
Welcome to the True Vanilla wiki! This page aims to guide you through the process of creating, editing, previewing, and saving pages.
Creating an account
To begin editing the wiki, you need to create an account! Please visit the sign-up page to set up your account.
Creating a new page
For more info, click here.
There are several methods to create a new page, but the simplest method is to search for the desired page name using the search bar located at the top right of the page. If the page does not exist, a prompt to create it will appear: "Create the page "{}" on this wiki!". Clicking the link opens the editor, where you can begin creating your page (click here for formatting guidelines). When specifying the page title, please adhere to the recommended naming conventions.
Editing an existing page
For more info, click here.
There are two editing modes: visual editor and source editing. Clicking the 'Edit' button will open the visual editor, while the 'Edit source' button opens the source editor. While both editing methods are available, we recommend using the source editor for edits, as (once you get used to it) it will become easier to use, while also giving more control.
Quick tips:
- Use
{{user|RPiCPU}}to mention a user, like this. RPiCPU - Insert
{{Stub}}at the top of a page if it needs more info/is poorly written. - To insert an image, first upload it here, then you can reference it by using
[[Image:ImageName.png]].
Previewing
Always view the preview by clicking "Show Preview" to review how your edits will appear before saving them. Repeat the editing and preview steps as needed until satisfied. When ready, click "Save changes" to apply your edits to the real time wiki.
Saving changes
Provide a good summary of your edits in the "Summary" field below the editing box. Feel free to only use a couple words if appropriate.
